PROJECT
Thrill Publication
Thrill is a publication that emphasizes the extreme and questions the psychology behind the people who pursue the extreme. In the first volume of Thrill, extreme surfing is explored, delving into interviews and articles about why people risk their lives catching a large wave. This project was created over the course of a semester.
DESCRIPTION
01.
Overview
As a sports magazine that focuses on extreme sports and psychology, I wanted the publication and word mark design to be distinct, exciting, bold, and scientific.
02.
Word Mark
The word mark process included typeface ideation, type structure changes, and publication name changes until I settled on the final design.

Project Learnings
-
I got to try out ideation with type and imagery to create the publication pages.
-
With this project I applied a lot of halftone and monochromatic hues to my imagery. I also photographed type in water to add texture.
-
This project taught me how to create hierarchy in type and how to apply it to create extra emphasis.
