PROJECT
Dreamscapes
Dreamscapes is an app that utilizes AI to focus on tracking the visualization of a person’s dreams. It uses prompts and descriptions to develop imagery and colors to create a gallery of the user’s dreams.

Project Background
For our Graphic Design II project, we were tasked with creating data graphics that would display data we’ve collected in our everyday lives.
As someone who remembers my dreams every night, I decided to write down my dreams every night for 2 weeks, including details, how many I had, and how long I slept.
That same semester in our Interaction Design II class, we were told to recognize pain points in our daily life. After tracking dreams for 2 weeks, I realized that my pain point was keeping track and remembering these dreams.

Research
/ Dream Research
In order to make the app feel intuitive for people using it to track their dreams, I also did research on dream science.
/ Benchmarking
To begin my research and start designing the app, I first downloaded and benchmarked 3 different apps on the market.
Benchmarking Takeaways
a.
AI has a growing prevalence in this market. There is potential for it to evaluate what a user has written and make conclusions, but for it to also use writing to create imagery.
b.
Common things that dream apps let you track is time sleeping and mood, displaying these data points as data graphics in the home page. This made me wonder how I can change this paradigm and instead emphasize imagery.
c.
Some of these apps provide resources for users to learn more about the types of dreams they’re having. I felt like this could be important, but also more secondary in the architecture.

Objective
/ Identifying Target User
To make sure I had a focus audience and problem statement for the project, I created an optimal user journey for a user utilizing this app.
This UX Ecosystem represents where a user would receive their data that supplements into the app. Most of the data is self identified by the user, yet there are some opportunities to have wearables and other apps play into the data collection.

/ Medium Fidelity Wireframes
/ Mood board
I initially had a darker color scheme for the app, yet switched direction to let the imagery take precedence over the app colors. I also wanted the app mood to emulate wakefulness, rather than moody, nighttime colors.
/ Style Tile
/ Icon Creation
I created all the icons for this project utilizing a grid in Illustrator *with the exception of the thumb icon
